"At the beginning of 1952 the General Sudoplatov on the commission of the minister of state security OF THE USSR Ignat'yev developed the utilization plan of kurd terrorists for the diversionary operations in the Near East. Sudoplatov it proposed to form from the Kurds, who passed special-instruction in the Soviet military schools, special brigade into 1,5 thousand people. This subdivision was intended to use for the planned by Soviet reconnaissance overthrow of Noury's government Saida in Iraq. Furthermore, in accordance with the proposals Of sudoplatova to kurd brigade was assigned important role in the realization of the Soviet plans of disabling of oil pipelines in the territory of Iraq, Iran and Syria in the case of the beginning of war against SSSRE.[1]

Reconcile with other article

The page on his book, Special Tasks, says that Sudoplatov reached major-general, whereas his bio page says lieutenant-general. This difference should be rectified, though I know not which is correct. Keshik (talk) 22:47, 24 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
